Two weeks ago, Ms Mascarenhas, aged 49, had her first taste of death.
The nurse found Ms Mascarenhas in her hospital bed complaining of headache, nausea and vomiting.
But on examination it was discovered her body had been strangled.
The inquest jury today heard Ms Mascarenhas was locked in a hospital room from 9am to 6pm for three days in the early hours of February 17 and 18 this year.
The nurse’s father, Mr Mascarenhas, said the pain of his daughter’s demise was unbearable.
“She was in shock and she didn’t want to go back to work because she was so shocked she would die. She was in pain and crying,” he said.
“We cannot believe her death has to happen to this day.”
